The minutes of the October board meeting were duly approved on motion by
Jim Godfrey, 2nd by Vann Saltz and unanimously carried.
Charlie opened the meeting and turned it over to Eddie. Eddie said he
thinks the skateboard park issue has been neutralized. Once we let people
know what was going on and that we were still working on it everyone was
on board. Eddie said he plans to take a couple of days off and go to Albany,
GA, LaGrange, GA, and Auburn and see their skateboard parks. See how
they operate and if they would do anything different.
On the subject of land acquisition, he said we need to figure out something
Vaughan Kelly has not come forward since the last meeting. If we had not
heard something by the first of the year we will consider doing something.
Different things we could do were talked about and everyone to keep their
ears open for possibility of acquiring 40 acres in town.
The new building at the football field was talked about and Eddie said he
has not heard anything else from John Baker but we still do need to move
forward. All in agreement and Eddie said he is on top of it.
Eddie brought to the board's attention that Blast, a travel soccer team had
been using the soccer fields for practice and games and when they first
approached him he had let them with the understanding that it would be a
50-50 use and that at some point it has become more than that. He brought
up the policy that we had enacted where all travel teams, baseball and
soccer, would pay $50 for each usage of the field and was asking for
guidance before it became an issue. The unanimous opinion was to enforce
the policy as we set it or we need to change the policy. Eddie said he will
meet with them.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned at 7:15 PM
