information and he had done so. He presented a cost model and went over
it with the board. He had also included information from several companies
as well as information on constructing an outdoor racquetball court . He
discussed cement vs asphalt courts. Everyone thanked him for his in depth
discussion and Charlie told him he would have to get with the Mayor and
get back with him.
Mike Baugh was present and showed pictures of a softball that had hit
his stained glass door and asked where he could see about getting
reimbursed for repairs. He was directed to the City Clerk's office where he
can fill out an insurance claim. He is also the commissioner for youth
baseball and told of opening day, of having 2500 people and 50 teams.
He thanked Eddie and Tom Kuhl for all their help. He said he had trouble
getting help from Public Works on garbage, trees and fencing.
The February minutes were considered and approved as written on motion
by Van Saltz, 2nd by Jim Godfrey and unanimously carried.
Under old business Rich Mueller was here to talk about proposed new
concession building for football field. He and John Baker were suppose to
be working on plans. He pointed out that since pool built regulations have
changed and that they would have to bid out a lot of other engineering that
will up the cost of construction, i.e. mechanical, electrical, plumbing.
Discussion followed on what it would take if we could get the city to do most
of it just do a slab and metal building. Eddie said he had people lined up
that offered to do ceiling and plumbing work. It was also pointed out that the
Mayor said he wanted to brick up part way which will cost more. Eddie
asked where do we go from here. It was asked if we could get it done by this
football season. Everyone also realized that since the Hurricane everyone
is doing more jobs than they can handle, having to turn down work. Vann
said it would be better to wait another season if we have to hurry, do it right
and we do not want it under construction during football season. John
Baker said to give him at least until the end of the week to see what he can
come up with.
Eddie was asked if anything new and he reported no, everything going
great, we just had three opening days at one time. Charlie briefed Derek,
our new member on where we were and what we hoped to get on recreation
facilities and projects.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned at 7:45 PM.
