HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-16-2005 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 6:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Charlie Langham, Chairman; Jim Godfrey, Vann Saltz, Jenny Douglass, Sherry Sullivan, Eddie Boyett, Recreation Director, Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Absent: John Baker, Derek Thomas The minutes of the January 19, 2005 meeting were considered and duly approved on motion by Jim Godfrey, 2nd by Vann Saltz and unanimously carried. Charlie asked Eddie if he had anything new and he said no, he was supposed to meet with the skate park group next week sometime and he will be reporting back. He said he met at the stadium with John Baker and Rich Mueller to talk about the new building and learned the process of getting it done; that it would be Wayne who would have to bid it out, after bids opened send to Council for approval, order building, then do slab work, etc., he said all in all he hoped that it would be in by football season. He said further that they have just been doing hurricane recovery and repair, slowly getting back to normal — so far worked on Founders the girls softball field, worked on Stimpson, that they were fixing lights today and ordered new nets. He said they are still waiting on fence repair. He was asked if he made a list of what he could do in the future to prepare for hurricane and he said yes, he has learned by it. He also said he is two men short so he is getting out and working with them, he said he is in the processing of hiring someone to help out. He also reported that he has a new gator and new paint machine. Under new business, Charlie told of coming up and talking with the Mayor and that the Mayor told him he wanted something that set out "dollars" and he has talked to Jack Russo about putting together cost for moving tennis courts to Stimpson Field. That we also need to come up with dollar amount for the Recreation Center. That the mayor is interested in all the projects but seeing dollar amounts help him see what can be done. Vann asked if we were also going to redo the restrooms at the top of the hill. Eddie said we had to get up other building first and see what could be done. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned at 7:10PM
