at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street.
Present: Charlie Langham, Chairman, Hank Mullins, Vann Saltz, Jim
Godfrey, John Baker, Sherry Sullivan, Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Eddie
Boyett Recreation Director, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary
Several parents were present from last meeting and Charlie commented that
he heard that they had gotten things worked out. Eddie had worked out a
solution that would fit the citizens of Fairhope and everyone involved
including FAST.
The minutes were approved as written on motion by Vann Salts, 2Id by John
Baker and unanimously carried.
Vann Saltz gave an update on youth soccer, saying they got approval from
Riviera to put banners on the poles at Founders Park. Eddie touched
quickly on the pool and said he was proud they could work everything out
that the bottom line is the kids.
The continuing problem with the old dressing room was addressed. Eddie
said he has been given tentative approval to tear it down and he has met
with the different departments about it but it won't happen before football
season begins. Possible leave the north wall and part of roof, that is where
the transformers are. Sherry talked to girl with the port-o-lets and they are
not available now. Have to use what we have this year.
Eddie mentioned that they are in desperate straights for a Gator and asked
if Mike thought he could get a used one. Eddie also reported he has been
working with youth football and ok'd them using the field. He said he is still
trying to get them hooked up using the practice field at the high school. He
said soccer is wide open, has 600 kids signed up, fall baseball has finished
registration. Hank Mullins asked if we had a drawing of the building
proposed and Eddie said yes. Eddie said he has been talking with Steve
Hale at the Senior Bowl. Everyone knew there is a move to get it away from
the Eastern Shore.
Jim Godfrey made a motion to take up to $3500 out of the Recreation
Improvement Account for the purchase of a Gator. John Baker 2"d the
motion and it carried unanimously.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
