2004 at 6:30PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street.

Baker, Jim Godfrey, Sherry Sullivan, Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Betty
Rivenbark, Secretary. Tom Kuhl represented Eddie Boyett. Absent: Trisha

Charlie opened the meeting and turned it over to Tom who reported that
the Senior Bowl was going good, the fields are in good shape and they
have received many compliments on condition of the fields. He said the
pool is doing well, memberships have exceeded expectations and they are
hosting many parties. They know when it warms up the crowd will only
increase. Only question when grand opening will be held. He said soccer
Has started, the high school and middle school are practicing, that baseball
and softball start Monday. He mentioned that Youth Baseball program had
donated over $12,000 to park improvements, most recently installed
concrete walkways, added crimson stone added to the youth fields, and
paid for half of snapper vacuum mower. He mentioned the trouble they
had at Founders Park with FHS students parking and littering but they got
the police department involved and it has since been resolved. He said
regarding the skateboard park they are just waiting for grant money to do
anything at this point.
Sherry asked if anyone knew who would be taking over Willie Raley's job in
Girls Softball League. No one knew. It was mentioned they will be having
a benefit for his family this weekend.
Under old business, Charlie brought up we need to set a policy on the
traveling squads using the fields. Eddie had asked me to relay that
traveling soccer squads paid $50.00 per use of fields if they were not
Fairhope teams/residents. Jim Godfrey asked if they would expect the
fields to be lined, etc. Vann said no, and that he felt sure they would be
using them only around planned schedules, when available, that most
games are played away. He said that Dixie Youth did not allow their
members to join any other teams once the season started until the season
was complete. He said usually traveling teams were made up of 4 players
from Fairhope, 4 from Daphne, 4 from Spanish Fort. Further discussion
led to a motion by John Baker to be consistent with prior policies, charge
$50.00 per use of field to include insurance being furnished.
There was no new business, just suggestions of possible times to have
grand opening of pool.
Meeting was duly adjourned at 7:OOPM.
There was no February meeting.
