Garland Sims spoke saying he had an e-mail from Debbie Quinn asking him to come up and inquire if in the new budget new tennis courts were planned. Eddie responded that resurfacing is in the budget. Mr. Sims also asked about restrooms. Eddie responded that the restrooms at the gym are open and can be used. Steve Sims said that he had visited other facilities and he thought with the growing interest it is time the city do something nicer as we are tops in all our other facilities. They questioned the lights and Eddie said he felt sure he could get some added in the center courts. The board and the men talked about interest being generated and the programs Tammy is putting on. All felt that with this interest and the resurfacing we could promote tennis and hopefully plan for something better down the road. Tammy said the Grand Hotel is giving her some benches and she plans to put them out there. Charlie suggested they get with Eddie and let him know what they want. Eddie told them that we are land poor right now. Mike Ford told him that they are looking at options. The group thanked the board and left. Vann Saltz remarked that he felt it was inappropriate for a council member to e- mail a group and ask them to come without talking to the council liaison and chairman before the meeting. Charlie said he had talked with Debbie. Eddie said they are just starting to redo the courts and total cost would be $6000 vs the $115,000 overlay they quoted or 4 new courts for $160,000. The minutes were approved for September on motion by Jim Godfrey, 2"d by Larry Thomas and unanimously carried. Eddie reported that youth football is playing on the hill and doing well.
