The minutes of the August 19, 2002 meeting were duly approved with two corrections
on motion by Jim Godfrey, 2"d by Trisha McMahon and unanimously carried.
Charlie Langham turned the meeting over to Eddie Boyett who reported that under old
business volleyball is better. He said we are still trying to get youth football situated.
That it did not work out at Stimpson Field. That in talking to them we scheduled'/ at
the stadium and'/ on the hill by the stadium. That now the Saturday after the Foley
game is the only other scheduled game. He said that they have been questioning him
and he told that we had a five year plan two years ago that included having a field for
them to play on. That we are working on them using two practice fields at the high
school, their program has grown so big that they now need two fields; 200 participants
and cheerleaders. That he is talking to Coach Lassiter and the high school is
agreeable to them using these fields as they would not conflict with any high school
events as they play on Saturday. Using the Middle school was mentioned again and
Eddie said he had talked with Beverly Thomas but she was worried about vandalism
with that many people on weekends with grounds not being watched. That the two
practice fields are already there. The youth board said they would build the concession
stand if we furnished the material. This is the only answer now as their program is
growing.
He said that they are waiting for the new budget to start work on the tennis courts. That
all the fences are down in the stands at the football stadium and it looks real good. The
25 second clocks are now in and working. Mike Baugh and Barry working on new
sound system. That the Booster Club has agreed to pay for it with the city paying for
over a period of time. On the pool, nothing to report at this time, they are getting the
bid packages ready. He did report that we will not have a construction manager.
He reported that the 100 ft poles have been ordered.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
