The Chairman recognized four parents who were present to talk to the board about the
girls volleyball program. They voiced some concerns about the money that had been
raised by the girls for the sports festival saying they cannot get an accounting from their
coach. Eddie indicated he had talked with these ladies before and told them that he
would be glad to sit down with them, with board members, and Dora and see what they
can work out. They were told that this is not an issue that would be handled by the
board that all leagues work separately from the board having their own chairman,
treasurer, etc. That they need to form their own league from volunteer parents and that
there will be no more play in the gym until this can be resolved. The ladies left their
phone numbers and thanked the board and left.
The minutes of the June 26"' meeting were duly approved as written on motion by John
Baker, 2"d by Trisha McMahon and unanimously carried.
Eddie reported on the programs and said the pool project is ongoing, they are still
considering plans, plot and soil plans, foundation. As always we will have to consider
the building vs price. He said the dressing facility at Volanta stadium has been put on
hold because we can no t get it going before football season. That there are some
individuals who are wanting to donate money to the project when we get it going.
He said all the baseball games are finished except for Ronnie Norris' team who has
made it to the district playoffs. He mentioned the girls softball state tournament at
Founders Park this weekend, That we will have a swim meet this weekend and then
swimming will be over. Football and soccer will start up in August. He said they are
just plugging along.
He gave the board some background on the friction in the volleyball league but said he
will work with them to help resolve it. That they do select special ones for the sports
festival and that the girls do not play after the 8"' grade traditionally. He was asked if
they had insurance and he said yes.
Sherry mentioned the parents and players of the girls softball tournament being at the
beach Friday night and said if anyone wished to mingle go down.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
