Section Street Present: Charlie Langham, Chairman; Larry Thomas, Trisha McMahon, Bob Callahan, Sherry Sullivan, Eddie Boyett, Recreation Director, Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary (Vann Saltz came in late in the meeting) The minutes of the October meeting were approved as written on motion by Larry Thomas, 2"d by Trisha McMahon and unanimously carried. As is policy, the meeting was turned over to Eddie to discuss what is currently going on. Eddie reported on the skateboard issue saying that he had been diligently looking for a place to put the skateboarders. That he finally settled on the old tennis courts at the Middle School and had talked to Ms. Thomas about using them and of course this would have to be approved by the school board. He said that he had even volunteered to fence the other two sides. Lynn Long had called him today and he told her that this would have to be treated like any other league, have insurance, have adult supervision at all times and have a fee paid to belong. She related to him that she had not found the support she thought she would find from the adults. So everything is kind of at a standstill. He reported that the Mayor had asked him to take the results of the teen survey that he had gotten from three classes of high school students. In discussing survey questions they requested a teen center and this discussion led to discussion on the need for a family recreation center. Mike Ford discussed different properties that could be used for this. Eddie said that he feels there is enough property next to the gym that can be used. Mike suggested that the board needs to get the public support and get the word to the Mayor. It was the board's desire to invite the Mayor to the next meeting to talk further with him about this most important matter. Eddie reported that Coca Cola is providing the 25 second clock as well as other clocks for the high school park and Stimpson Field. That we plan to move youth football to Stimpson Field this fall. He reported on Senior Bowl activities that will begin January 21st with them using the stadium to practice. He also reported on the signs being removed and the new sign that will display all the sponsors. The summer program was talked about and how it did not work at the high school and that it will be moved back to the city handling it at city facilities. The lights poles for the new baseball field were discussed and Mr. Ford was told of the meeting in the fall between booster club and Aaron and other individuals but so far no results, and he was asked to help this project along. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
