HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-08-2001 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met November 8, 2001 at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Sue Mason, Chairman, Mike Ford, Mike Baugh, Khim Vira, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary A discussion was held on the news that Goodrich Co. located in our industrial park has announced that they will be relocating to Foley, and closing their business here. All felt that there is some impact on the economy from the September 11"' tragedies. Mike Baugh said that there is an incredible layoff in the aviation industry and it is happening universally. That Boeing has announced 45% production cuts. That there is universal misery. We had received a request from Teledyne to extend the reduction of their lease to $4,000 monthly for another six month period until June 2002. Mike Baugh said because of the situation nationwide he would not hesitate to extend this request for reduction. Mike Ford said in tough times we try to help people. Sue Mason brought up the fact that we had told Teledyne this would be a one time only situation and we would like to examine their books if this request made again. Mike Baugh said he was the one who probably made that recommendation but things have changed and the economy is hurting, six months is not very long and at least we have a FBO. Mike Ford agreed with Mike Baugh and a motion was made to honor their request and extend the reduction of the lease for six months until June 2002. Khim Vira 2"d the motion and it passed unanimously. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
