HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-15-2001 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at
6:30PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street.
Present: Charles Langham, Chairman; Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas, Sherry
Sullivan, Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary
The minutes of the July meeting were duly approved on motion by Rae Jackson, 2"d by
Larry Thomas and unanimously carried.
The bills were approved for payment when money becomes available on motion by
Larry Thomas, 2"d by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried.
Eddie reported that everything went well with the Dixie Youth Tournament, the fields
had never looked better.
He told of the different groups registering for football, volleyball, soccer. He said the
football field had to have sod replaced, and told what they had to do to get it ready.
He said the first football game is August 30 h. That the press box is supposed to be
finished in time.
The pool will close the last of August, since the bad weather the attendance has been
down, and now school is in so there is not much traffic.
The question about the select soccer was asked and he reported that according to Nick
Nickerson they will only be playing on Sunday afternoon and he provided a cost
sheet(in file) for use of the field. He said they had no problem with paying that. Along
this line Larry Thomas moved to approve the cost sheet for Founders Park that Eddie
presented tonight(in file). Rae Jackson 2"d the motion and it carried unanimously.
Eddie reported he will be working with Richard Hice on the budget so there is nothing
at this time to bring to the board. He told of some of the capital improvements he will
be requesting.
Eddie also gave a final report on the summer program. We paid out $17,000 and only
took in $ . It was suggested doing something totally different next year.
Mike Ford gave a report on the possibility of getting money for land on Thompson Hall
Road.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
