Present: Charlie Langham, Chairman; Trisha McMahon, Vann Saltz, Mike Ford,
Council Liaison, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary
The minutes of the April meeting were considered and approved on motion by Trisha
McMahon, 2"d by Vann Saltz and unanimously carried.
The bills were looked at and approved for payment on motion by Trisha McMahon, 2nd
by Vann Saltz and unanimously carried.
A discussion was held on when we thought the press box work would start. All realized
it would be time to play in 3 months and that we needed to build it a new one at least 3
times the size it is now. Trisha asked if we had any plans and was told to check with
Eddie. Charlie said that the feedback he has gotten indicated that even though
recreation projects presented to council with all things that needed to happen it was
indicated that we were lower on list than other things needed now ... possibly jail, library.
Mike Ford said a new gym may be 3-4 years down the road.
Mike Ford brought up Stimpson Field and his and Mayor's encounter with Tony
Caminiti. He mentioned the things he had pointed out as needing fixing and asked him
to make a list and get to Eddie.
Mike also mentioned possibility of getting ADECA funds for recreation project. He said
the mayor had asked him to ask for priorities for use of money. Fence repair was
mentioned, possibility of buying land across from Volanta park and putting up new
tennis courts and then using old tennis courts for skateboard area. Putting up new
concession stand and dressing rooms at the Volanta stadium where the old one was
considered a priority along with repairing fencing. Mike said this would give him
something to take back to the Mayor.
The summer program was asked about and with Bob, Eddie, and Sherry not here no
one knew anything to report. Charlie suggested contacting Eddie in the morning.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned.
