HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-18-2000 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, October 18, 2000 at 6:30PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Charlie Langham, Chairman; members Van Saltz, Larry Thomas, Jim Godfrey, Trisha McMahon, Rae Jackson. Council Liaison, Mike Ford, Secretary Betty Rivenbark The minutes were approved as written on motion by Trisha McMahon, 2"d by Jim Godfrey and unanimously carried. The bills were considered and approved on motion by Trisha McMahon, 2"d by Jim Godfrey and unanimously carried. The dedication of the soccer fields will b held at 10:00 AM on November 3, 2000. All are invited to attend. Eddie reported that the concession stand was almost finished, the top floor not finished but maybe will be by the dedication, that the driveway to the maintenance shop being worked on, working on lights, just about finished. That in the last two weeks they have been working on the irrigation system at the J. Larry Newton school. He reported that the budget was approved and he had worked out everything with Tim. That he plans to buy two trucks that have been approved, he will be buying two used ones instead of one new one. The press box was talked about and what plans we have for it. Johnny Baker will be looking at to see what we need to do. Eddie said we will start after the Senior Bowl but ask board to remember we will be using city workers so this project will be on the list. Charlie reported that Time had said that he wished to meet with the Recreation Board before a council meeting, a date to be decided, just to familiarize everyone with board's function and plans. The parking situation at Founders Park was talked about and possibility of fixing so people don't have to walk so far to get to the fields from parking. Different ideas were tossed around and ways to help situation. Larry told of what planned as far as Colony subdivision. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
