HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-09-2001 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, July 9, 2001 at 8:OOAM in the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Sue Mason, Chairman; Mike Ford, Khim Vira, Mike Baugh, Andy Huggins Betty Rivenbark, Secretary The minutes of the April 27, 2001 meeting were duly approved as presented. Ms. Mason updated everyone on the project and said that actually we are a little ahead of schedule. She told of the public hearing held on June 25°i and the people that attended. She told of zoning suggestion that Barge, Waggoner, our engineers, suggested " noise box". Area between Hwy 34 south of Hwy 24 little bit of Greeno Rd and little East of Hwy 13. She said people would be able to build but would be required to add noise materials to any building. She said second suggested zoning would be height hazard zoning. She described it as a bowl similar to an arena that graduates in levels. She said that we are in the process of zoning now. That under state law we have zoning jurisdiction within two miles of the airport anyway. She said she talked with Joe Faust and the County Engineer and told him what going on and explained that we do have two mile zoning jurisdiction. Khim Vira asked if we should write a letter to the county and advise them to let us know of any zoning requests within these limits. Sue said this was supposed to be done. A motion was made by Khim Vira 2"d by Andy Huggins to request two zones - noise zoning and height zoning around airport, as recommended by engineers to city zoning ordinance. It was also put in the form of a motion to make an official request to the County in the form of a letter from the Mayor that any permits that will violate the noise or height hazard issue by put on hold until our zoning is in place and also notify us of any applications in this area. Khim Vira moved, 2"d by Mike Ford and unanimously carried. Sue told of the grant from the state that we should be getting for landscaping at the entrance and that she is trying to work with Jennifer on getting this done. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
