The minutes of the May 19, 1999 meeting were considered and duly approved as
written(no meeting held in June).
A group representing Fairhope Youth Football was present tonight. Waring Willis, this
year's president, spoke saying they are part of the Central Baldwin League and they
pretty much asking for the same thing they had last year. They appreciated so much
being able to use our facility and had a really good year. They will have three teams,
broken down into 7-8yr old, 9-10yr old, 11-12yr old, 30-35 boys on each team. They
are non-profit and only charging enough in fees to cover required insurance, which they
will provide us a copy of. He said he has talked to Eddie and they are trying to
schedule games after high school football games so field maintenance won't be a big
problem. They are very conscientious about weather and if field muddy would
definitely reschedule games, probably play 8-9 games on Saturday in Fairhope.
They were asked if there was any competition and they said none that they know of at
this time. They asked if we would waive the fee for use of the stadium and after
discussion Charlie Langham moved to provide the facilities for Fairhope Youth
Football, Inc. for the `99 year at the same conditions as last year provided they present
us with a copy of their liability insurance. Trisha McMahon seconded and motion
carried unanimously.
Our financial condition was talked about and Eddie explained the amount of overtime
attributed to the pool operation, lifeguards, keeping fields ready for leagues. Our
money coming in has gotten much smaller due to cigarette tax being less.
The bills were considered and approved for payment on a motion by Charlie Langham,
2"d by Trisha McMahon and unanimously carried.
Eddie reported on the fencing repair bid he had received. Mike said he would bring to
the Mayor's attention. Need to get it done before high school football this year.
The need for blacktopping was also discussed for handicap access to fields. Eddie to
try and get a price on doing this. Eddie also said the benches and tables have been
ordered for Founder's Park.
Phil reported situation with NFL account due to overcharging by girls softball league.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
