HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-01-1999 Regular MeetingThe Recrea oard of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday May 1 9 at 6:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Charlie Langham, Larry Thomas, Rae Jackson, Trisha McMahon, Jim Godfrey; Mike Ford, Council Liaison, Eddie Boyett, Director, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary The minutes of the April 14, 1999 meeting were duly approved as written on motion by Charlie Langham, seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. The bills were considered and approved on motion by Charlie Langham, seconded by Trisha McMahon and unanimously carried. Under old business, the new concession stand was discussed and Eddie said because of playoffs they had not been able to get anything going but he had talked to Jerry, Steve Sloan, Mike Booth and they will all help. Maybe get something going the first part of next week. Eddie reported that Phil Savage will be hold a free Football Camp June 24, 25, 26 in the afternoon at Volanta. He had a catalog of park equipment and the board discussed different things they wished to put at the Founders Park at least a bench and picnic table between every field. It was finally decided that Eddie and Rae would work together on deciding what equipment to be purchased and this was put in the form of a motion by Trisha McMahon, seconded by Charlie Langham and unanimously carried. The sign we are wanting to erect was talked about and Eddie was told to get with Dean Mosher who is designing one for the Single Tax and see what they could work out. It was suggested that we wish to see proofs before anything approved. Jim Godfrey was welcomed as a new member and it was noted he is already actively involved in recreation programs now. Eddie also reported the vandalism at the high school baseball field, someone throwing salt on the infield. This is not the first time this has happened. He reported the pool is open and we have not had the funds to do anything with it so the paint is flaking but it is clean and we have someone checking the water 4 times a day, 7 days a week if anyone gets calls. That we have 4 holes in the pool but we are working on having someone come in and repair them. The condition of the fencing at the stadium, tennis courts and pool was talked about and that we need to look into fixing them as best we can when we can get some money. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
