HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-17-1998 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Present: Chairman Richard Bass; members Charlie Langham, Larry Thomas, Rae Jackson, Phil Rutherford, Facilities Director, Betty Rivenbark, Secretary, Council Liaison Mike Ford Richard recognized Rock Searle who was present tonight to just say thank you to the board for their help in getting the disc golf course completed and going. He said they hosted their first tournament and the money they made was going for the purchase of a marker. The minutes of the April 15, 1999 (there was no May meeting) meeting were duly approved as written on motion by Charlie Langham, seconded by Larry Thomas and unanimously carried. The bills for the May meeting were considered and approved on motion by Charlie Langham, seconded by Larry Thomas. The June bills were considered and approved on motion by Larry Thomas seconded by Charlie Langham. Under old business everyone commented they thought the sign looked nice, getting a lot of attention. Phil said the pool is running fine. The Founders Park was talked about and the city crews have started working out there. Mike Ford reported that Tim Kant said that they will have grass on the ground the last week in July. Phil said they put 250 ft of pipe in the ground today. He showed them the concession stand plans that Tim had gotten but nobody liked the design or the fact that the restrooms were located in the same building. They liked the design of the concession stand we have now. They asked Phil to convey that to Tim. Under new business, Larry Thomas mentioned that he, the mayor and Debbie Quinn were meeting next Tuesday and that he was sure that the new park would be discussed. Phil mentioned that he had talked with Cliff Pittman and the new development that he is hoping to do. That maybe there would be some joint funds to pave the needed road. Larry will get back with a report at the next meeting. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned. There was no July meeting.
