HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-21-1998 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, January 21,
1998 at 6:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street
Present: Charlie Langham, Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas, Trisha McMahon,
Eddie Boyett, Phil Rutherford, Betty Rivenbark
Charlie acting in Richard's absence recognized Rock Serle who was here to
give us an update on the disc golf and where they are at this point. He went
over the course layout. Phil told him he was going to have to do something
different on 5,6,7. That this is going to be dug out but they can work around it.
He will get with Eddie and work it out. Larry said he thinks that we should walk
it out and asked that Rock come back one more time, not give final decision
tonight. This was agreeable with everyone.
The minutes of December were approved on motion by Larry Thomas seconded
by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried.
The bills were approved on motion by Larry Thomas seconded by Trisha
McMahon and unanimously carried.
Eddie mentioned the bill from Sand & Clay that is actually a bill regarding new
ballfield. Larry Thomas moved to pay, Rae Jackson seconded and motion
carried unanimously. Eddie mentioned again the Paul Monroe said we could
have some dirt for the fields from his subdivision but we would have to haul it.
They talked about officially thanking all the'volunteers that have already done so
much work.
Eddie said the plants have been planted at the new gym, the lights fixed and the
new sign is up. Eddie also said he got his blinds up today, that the jazzercise
classes are going well, good response. The dedication was talked about and a
date of February 6, 1998 was planned at 11:OOAM. Trisha asked about the
bleachers and she was told we had put them on hold for now, don't need them
yet.
The new sign was talked about and Eddie said he had the book that it was going
to cost $5600. That we can get $3000 from the youth, but he will work on other
ways to get money.
Extra help for Recreation Board was talked about again and Eddie said they are
there every night, every Saturday and every Sunday. No one had any answers
at this time on this.
Eddie also reported that high school baseball and soccer had started.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
