HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-17-1997 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, July 17, 1 6.30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N Section Street. Present: Chairman Richard Bass; members Charlie Langham, Trisha McMa Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas. Council Liaison Mike Ford, Facilities Director Richard Bass and Secretary Betty Rivenbark The minutes of the June 18, 1997 meeting were duly approved on motion Larry Thomas, seconded by Charlie Langham and unanimously carried. The bills were approved with the exception of the air conditioner, and that i be checked on, on motion by Larry Thomas, seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. at n, Under old business, Larry said again that he thought that the corn would hava been down by July 1 and he is sorry for the delay. That the Streets said ag n they would help with equipment when the corn is cut. That possibly they COL I be working on the front area on Hwy 44. The utility easement was discusse and it was disclosed that the school board had agreed to give the land need d to run a utility line . Further discussion led to Larry Thomas moving that the mayor write a letter saying that the recreation board supports the school board an FSTC granting enough common property for a utility easement, Charlie Langham seconded and motion carried unanimously. The gym was talked about and the work is going well, Eddie said to report probably be about 2 more weeks. The problem with the church league at Stimpson got worked out and went fine. Trisha brought up at this time the concession stand at Volanta and possibility of expanding it. Mike Ford related that when she approached him, he and the mayor went out there and that as a result had found some problems that had been straightened out and it had been cleaned up. That there was possiblyan electrical problem that needs to be checked out before any leakage in the rc f can be fixed. Trisha said she is working on getting an air conditioner for the we dressing rooms. Trisha said she looked at a drawing with Eddie on this. It i I have to be looked at, she said if it just gets a good scrubbing that she would Jo the painting even if the expansion is not possible. All expressed desire to have Eddie present at meetings, that there were s things raised tonight that he could have answered. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
