HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-18-1997 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met June 18, 1997 at 6:30 PM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chairman Richard Bass; members Charlie Langham, Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas, Secretary Betty Rivenbark, Council Liaison Mike Ford. The minutes of the April 23, 1997 meeting were duly approved as written. The bills were considered and approved on motion by Larry Thomas, seconded by Charlie Langham and unanimously carried. Under old business the new park was talked about. Larry Thomas said he apologized for the FSTC and the corn caper. It was all a misunderstanding, that shouldn't have happened but all seem to think it will work out. He said that the Street family said we could use their equipment to work that 20 acres when they have cut and cleared the corn. Richard said that he understands that it will be mid - July when the land is ready for us to use. Larry said he thought they were told July 1. In any event, Eddie, J. Baker and D. Boone have talked to them and are ready to go when they can. Larry said the FSTC has voted to give a 10 ft utilities easement and Mike said that the school board has been asked to give 10 ft. Larry said further that he has moved at their meeting that the FSTC annex all the land out there to the City before leasing. Richard reported that Eddie said there was 3-4 weeks left on the gym in getting it finished. Mike said we should plan to hold a ceremony when it is finished. No new problems were known. A scheduling problem at Stimpson was talked about but Eddie is supposed to be working it out. Eddie had also left word that the summer programs are going real well. That the coaches clinics are doing well also, supporting themselves. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
