HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-17-2024 Recreation Board Meeting MinutesMinutes of the Fairhope Recreation Board The Fa ir hope Recreation Board met on Wednesday , Ap ril 17th, 2024 , at 5:15 p .m . at Recreation Center located at 803 N. Greeno Road in Fairhope , Alabama. Present: Lisa Atchley , Cathy Hudson , Pat White , Charlie Langham, Josh Warren, Scott Berry , J ack Burrell , Debra Flowers , and Maurice Morrisette . Absent: Corey Martin. The meeting wa s ca lled to order by Lisa Atchley at 5 : 18 p.m . The minutes of the March 20th , 2024 , meeti ng w as considered and approved on a motion by Josh Warren , se conded by Jack Bur re ll, none opposed . Guest(s): C hery l Corvo and Gary Gover. Recreation Updates : Pat White informed the Rec Board of the following: • Fairh ope High School's Track hosting the County meet on Saturday, April 13th with a total of 11 teams participating . There were issues with parking and the restroom facilities being tra s hed . After speaking with Josh Howell at the high school, he assures me that the high school will be responsible for restocking and maintaining those restrooms during these typ es of meets . • Fa irh ope Soccer C lub /Ac ademy will be hosting their Annual Spring Soccer Tournament on Satu rday and Sunday , April 20 th -21St at Fairhope Soccer Complex . This year there is a tota l of 91 tea ms f rom all over the Southeast participating . • The new paint robot is being programmed at the soccer complex that includes 22 d ifferent fie ld layouts. • You t h Fl ag Football kicked off Monday with over 200 kids participating . The ages range from 8 to 15 years old . • The ne w well at the Fairhope Soccer Complex at Manley is almost completed . • FHS Bas eball has a doubleheader against Foley tomorrow , which is an area game and senior ni gh t. • Ca rt path renovations have begun at Quail Creek . • T he g reens at Qua il C reek will have a drainage crew down on the 24 th of April , that will la st roughly 11-12 day s . Right now , we are seeing an improvement. • New fen cing in the outfield of the youth softball fields is finishing up this week . • Spl as h Pad at the Kid 's Park is being de-winterized this week and will be open for the season sta rting Monday , April 22 nd . • S pok e to Ric hard Jo hnson regarding the status of the capital improvements of the stad ium bathroom build ing and he said that the project w ill be bid out soon and we are st ill on track to begin ri gh t after Graduation . Also getting a structural engineer involved with the possible renovations to the stadium press box . • Feasi bil ity studies were submitted to the Mayo r earlier this week and she will start review ing them wh en sh e gets back from her conference . • It has been confirmed that the fitness outdoor court will be placed at the Mike Ford Tennis Ce nter . Recreation New Bus iness: Ca t hy Hudson stated that FAST will be starting their registration on Sunday, April 21 st and S unda y, April 28 th f ro m 1-4 pm at the Rec Center Pool. Scott Berry as ked if t he soccer fields at Manley were go ing to be shut down for much nee d rest. He als o me ntioned that Union 10 has reached out to him about using the st adi um on May 24 th for the all-star "Battle of the Bay " between Baldwin and Mobile soccer teams a nd if there would be a fee for this . After revi ewing the details , it was confirmed there w ou ld be a fee for usage , but with the stadium improvements beginning right after grad uat io n, this date may not be feasible . Ge ne ral d is cussion was had regarding the 5-year plan and moving forward with finalizing it in our May meet ing . General discussion was had regarding interviewing Rec Board Applicants to fill the 2 vacant positions . Genera l discuss ion wa s had on updated the fee structure on the Rental Res e rvation Agre emen t. Be in g no f urt her business , the meeting was adjourned at 6 :19 p .m .
