Under old business Larry brought up that Charlie Ingersoll and the Fairhope
Single Tax were still trying to find us a suitable piece of property and they
have found one owned by an individual who they have approached to see if
they are interested in selling. They would in turn find this individual another
piece of property that would suit them. He said the single tax executive
council has given him permission to proceed.
The soccer response was asked about and it was determined that so far we
are very pleased with the attendance the biggest problem we are having is
parking. , -
The work on Stimpson Field was talked about and that it is much better now.
Phil mentioned the price of putting up a 30 ft. 100 ft long net on guy wire
across the Mershon Street side to stop balls from going into Mr. Farmer's yard.
He has gotten upset several times this year and we are just getting started wits
the season. Stanley Fant moved to authorize the purchase of this net, Charlie
Landham seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Signs at the fields was brought up for discussion again. It was the consensus
of the board that since no one has come forward to discuss this further with
the board that we should table this unto they come. Larry Thomas said that
several people mentioned to him that whatever we do we need to be consistant,
not tell one group yes and another no to the same thing. It was tabled until
a. formal request is made by a group or groups coming to the meeting with a
request.
Charlie brought up that we need more batting cages. Discussion was held
on where to put them and what we can do. Phil said this is a wintertime
project and can be worked on then.
Mike Ford brought up that he had talked to Leslie Odom again and told him
that we are not going to do anything until the other group releases it.
Under new business Phil pointed out the expenses we had incurred because
of the new field and asked if Mike Ford would approach the council about
getting this money out of the Improvement Account. Larry Thomas moved
to ask Mike to do this, Stanley Fant seconded the motion. Some $7600 is
needed.
