Under old business Eddie reported that everything is ready for the NAIA tournament on the 21st. He commended Bob Callahan for the work that he has done in getting the opening ceremonies organized. Bob told what was planned for the ceremonies. Games are planned for 12, 2, 6, and 8 on each of the 3 days they will be here. The board discussed starting another field within 30 days and that some of the neighbors had already been over wanting to know what going on. Eddie reported that they are planning the 12 x 20 slab with a roof and grill over by the big oak like we planned. The board discussed at length what we are going to do about getting land for the new fields we need. All agreed we would like to have our own land rather than use the school's and that we need to at least own the electricity that would light the fields(we would not at the high school) . Along with this the new recreation center was talked about and that the price came back being 1,000,000 more than what expected. All agreed we needed both but the recreation board feels we need the fields first. A resolution was passed by the board that they go on record saying we need both facilities, but , if anything be delayed becaused of finances it would be the recreation center. They discussed putting on a soft drink tax to buy the land for the fields. Bob Callahan moved that no men that do not live in the City Lim is be allowed to play in the church league. Charlie Langham seconded the motion but it was tabled to the next meeting. Mike Ford mentioned the Young Street contract and that it is up in one year and he has been approached by another group that wants to handle it. He wished us to be thinking about it. Phil reported on the trouble we are having at the park because of the people that have been attracted to the basketball goals. The loud noise and the cussing and them staying there until 2-3 AM in the morning. Different things were suggested to try to alleviate the problem but none seemed feasible. Stanley Fant moved to take the goals down at Volanta Park. Bob Callahan seconded and a vote was taken. For taking down: Fant, Callahan, Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas. Charlie Langham abstained to vote. Motion carried. It was decided to change the December meeting to December 14, at 6:30 PM There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
