HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-21-1992 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, October 21, 1992 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section St. Present: Chairman Richard Bass; members Rae Jackson, Larry Thomas, Charlie Langham, Stanley Fant. Facilities Director Phil Rutherford, Secretary Betty Rivenbark and Council Liaison Mike Ford The minutes of the September 17, 1992 meeting were duly approved as written. The bills were considered and approved as presented on motion by Stanley Fant, seconded by Larry Thomas and unanimously carried. Richard asked about the building, Phil said we are through and equipment in there. He also askedout the youth football and Phil said he had a schedule and they had played this past weekend, we are taking care of them. Charlie reported on the canvas covers discussed at the last meeting. He said Dixie Youth was getting prices, all agreed high school s.hould do this too. It was further agreed that if they don't put the covers on once they get them it won't do any good. Stanley asked about having a work day soon, before the season is over. Richard said he has not had a chance to write letter to school but will do SO. The swimming at the pool was discussed and it was decided to allow the seniors to use the pool through November as well as it is going. Stanley Fant made the motion, seconded by Charlie Langham and unanimously passed. A water problem at Stimpson was talked about and Phil said Andy would have to look at it and probably take about half a day to fix. Phil said further that they have gotten 2 loads of slag to put around the new building. The electricity in the batting cage was discussed and its peculiarities. The question of fencing the building was asked and it was decided not to pursue it right now. The board asked about overseeding the baseball fields and Phil said Robert can do it with no problem. A work meeting was scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 1992 at 6:30 p.m. to work on a policy for Stimpson Field. Betty was asked to invite Linda Skooglund to be here to offer suggestions. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
