Al Johnson was here tonight to tell us they have changed the rules regarding
number of people allowed in team boxes on sidelines at football games. He has
been attending Mobile Metro Football Assoc. meetings and this is new rules
coming down. He said that only 3 people will be allowed to be in the box
in the future and that they were suggesting it be lined off a certain way.
But, that we had always lined it off this way in the past. Everyone felt
sure that the high school would be notified but Phil said he would get in
touch with Rick Cleveland to make sure and he was sure he would let Robert
know if they needed anything different.
The minutes were approved as written on motion by Larry Thomas, seconded
by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. The bills were approved on
motion by Larry Thomas, seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried.
Stanley brought up at this time that he had some complaints about the
pool. Phil reported the problems he kenw of with the chemicals but that
they are working on getting it back right, he said he would talk to someone
with the association about the other problems. All agreed that we were sure
they would want to know so they could work them out.
Larry reported that he had talked to several people about the proposed
building we wished to build for our equipment. The best price he could
come up with was $8-10 sq. ft. w/slab and a 601x60' would be $36,000.
More discussion followed on possibly building different size maybe be cheaper.
Larry said he could get away tomorrow and come look at site. Phil said he
would meet him to see what they could come up with. Along this line the
board discussed with Mike Ford having him talk to the council about borrowing
the money and us pay back in a 2 yr or less period.
Under new business, Mike asked if we could not move the backstop at Vo lanta
and level the fields. Discussion followed on getting this done.
Larry reported that the Roy Patton soccer clinic will be at Stimpson Field
August 5-9 and he would let Phil know what, if anything, they needed to
do at Stimpson to get ready for it.
Stanley asked Phil if Steve Sims had contacted him about band camp. Phil
said no, but, probably he has talked to Robert. A discussion was held on
what the band wished to do in moving the fenced in area they now have
at the stadium. Mr. Cooper had quoted a $125 price to move it. Stanley
said he would talk to band and get back with us. That band had grown
to over 260 and space would be very crowded. The board did not see anythin
wrong with what proposed.
