HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-18-1990 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, July 18, 1990 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Al Johnson, Charlie Langham, Richard Bass, Phil Rutherford Facilities Director and Betty Rivenbark Secretary The minutes were considered and approved as written. The bills were considered and after discussion approved on motion by Richard Bass, seconded by Charlie Langham. Al read a note that the Board had received from Doris Shull. The Board discussed the accident at the pool where a child was injured on the high dive. Phil said it would be no problem to either lower it or take it out. Discussion led to a decision to lower it but Phil said it would have to be after the season is over. Mike Ford explained to the members what had occurred after the meeting with the council as far as the money situation, freeing up money for use on needed repairs/projects. Phil mentioned that Robert had already started spraying for foreign grass and that next week he could do the boarding to pour the concrete under the bleachers. All agreed we should get bleachers when we can afford them to replace the bad ones. Charlie reported what a good tournament they had and that the scoreboards were really wonderful, made a difference. Al mentioned the soccer clinic August 6-10 and asked about moving the portable goals up to Stimpson during that time. The school using the tennis courts was discussed and it was decided that this would be fine, that they should just keep open the one court in case someone else comes to play. Under new business, getting a new member was discussed. The secretary to check on requirements. as far as having to live inside the city limits. A new priority list was presented and is in the files.. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
