HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-17-1990 Regular MeetingThe Receation Board of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met January 17,1990
at the Fairhope Municipal Complex at 7:30 p.m.
Present: Chairman Barney Shull, members Don Smith, Richard Bass
and Rae Jackson. Betty Rivenbark, Secretary was
also present.
The minutes of the November 1989 meeting were duly approved as written.
The bills were considered and approved on motion by Don Smith, seconded
by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried.
Under old business Barney discussed the letter he had received from
the Young Steet group. He told the Board he had drafted a letter
back to them that basically they were asking if the legion operates
it would there being any more money available to go to the park, the
answer being no. It will be pointed out again that our plans are to
return the park back to a passive park or they can take it like it
is and operate it.
Richard Bass reported that at the last meeting he was asked to talk
with Charlotte Bentley of the Health Department about Stimpson Field
and the letter we received from them saying we needed a three compartment
sink, a canwash, and hot water run to the restrooms. He said Ms.
Bentley said that washing the cans at another area would not be acceptable.
She suggested maybe putting in a large mop sink, low to the ground,
maybe in the storage area. Barney asked if a simplex concrete pad
could be used, he said yes, Barney said that a cold water faucet is
all that we had at the golf course, would that be acceptable. Richard
said that was really not discussed but her letter had said hot and cold.
Richard said he will call back and talk to her -again and get some more
specific answers. Barney said he should ask also, if we do these things
will we be able to serve food.
The upcoming baseball season was discussed, Richard said he was no longer
on the board but he felt that the latter part of April a work night would
be planned with the board jointly with the city workers. All thought this
was a good idea.
No one had heard from the swim association.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
There was no meeting in February 1990
