HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-21-1988 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Wednesday, September 21, 1988 at the City Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section Street at 7:30 p.m. Present: Chairman Barney Shull; members Don Smith, Rae Jackson, Stanley Fant. Facilities Director Phil Rutherford and Secretary Betty Rivenbark were also present. Barney brought to the Board's attention that in answering the letter from the Quail Creek Golf Association that the cost of Coca-Cola's at 754 is a break even price. That we needed to leave it like it is. Don asked that we write them and tell them that at a closer look at the profit structure we can't afford to sell at the 504 price. Also advise them that if we stay open for their meetings it would mean overtime for any personnel and right now we are operating in the red. The budgets for the upcoming year for the golf course were discussed. Discussion led to a motion by Don Smith to recommend in budget a 10% raise for the superintendents; realizing they deserve more and future plans as soon as we see it feasibly possible to raise their salaries to what they should be. Stanley Fant seconded and motion carried unanimously. A discussion was held on the budgets for Harry and Tom and a meeting was planned for next Wednesday night with both to work them out. (It was later learned that the budget had already been worked out by mayor so meeting was unnecessary) A request was brought up by Roy Parker for some paint for the Young Street facility. Phil is to tell him of problems in past and give him paint as needed. Don Smith and Rae Jackson put in the form of a motion allowing as much as $100.00 for paint for facility. Motion passed unanimously. Phil reported two J.V. games being planned for stadium this week. He is to keep record of games and we will bill high school at end of season. Good comments had been heard about resurfacing of tennis courts. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
