HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-20-1988 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met July 20, 1988 at the City Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section Street at 7:30 p.m. Present: Don Smith, Stanley Fant, Ed Nelson, Programs Director and Secretary Betty Rivenbark A Roy Parker was present and talked to the board members about possibly getting something started at Young Street facility. He said he was going to have the support of his American Legion Post #335 behind him. That they have said that they want to work with him. Don Smith told him some of the history of the past efforts of different people and groups who come up and try to get something going and that so far we have not been able to keep it going for any length of time. That we would be delighted if something could be done but he also emphasized that the community would have to make it work. He told him to get his programs together and come back next month with what he wished to do. The bills were considered and approved as presented. Motion made by Stanley Fant, seconded by Don Smith(Rae Jackson gave verbal approval) The work at the football stadium was discussed and the grass situation. The pool and the program this year was discussed. Phil had gotten bids on finishing the work at the Tennis Courts. Don and Stanley asked that a meeting be arranged for Tuesday, 5:15 at the tennis courts to discuss what work to be done w/apparent low bidder American Tennis Courts out of Mobile(Jim Hasser) to see if this will put it back in first class shape. The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as written. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned. Note: 3 bids for redoing Tennis Courts were: Landon Browning $8,500.00 American Tennis Courts $8,000.00 Jeff Combs No bid The Board met Tuesday, 5:15 at the Tennis Court and voted to go with low bidder, American Tennis Courts, Mobile, Al.. Vote was unanimous and was as follows: Barney Shull, Al Johnson, Don Smith and Stanley Fant to go with American Tennis Courts. Against: None(Rae Jackson was not present at this meeting) .
