At this time Barney read a letter he had received from the Girls Softball
League regarding the 13-14 using the field every Friday night at Stimpson.
The danger they feel is involved when they are playing next to the young
girls and the balls flying around. The Board discussed what could be done
to rectify the situation. Al said he didn't know what could be done, that
they are playing 2-4 games every Saturday. It was suggested that maybe
the 13-14 yr. olds could use the field on Wednesday night. Eddie said he
would check with Judy Kendrick and get back with Margie tomorrow. This
would be a solution. Margie assured the Board that they appreciated every-
thing done, that they had nothing against the boys but it is a dangerous
situation that needs addressing. All agreed that they thought it could be
worked out.
Mike Randall brought to the board the possibility of commemorating in some
way at Stimpson Field -Kim Smith. That the Smith family had been so active
in the programs. The Board agreed with him that they had been active
but we had a policy -not naming facilities after people. Mike said that
they wished to raise money and sell tickets to get scoreboards for Stimpson
in her name. He was told a plague could be put on the scoreboard dedicating
it to her memory. Mike asked if the Board would participate in some way
in this project, that they wished to get four altogether, he had $500 now .
He was asked to get the specifications and bring them to the next meeting.
