HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-27-1988 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of the Fairhope met January 27, 1988 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street Fairhope, Al. Present: Chairman Barney Shull, members Don Smith, Al Johnson Rae Jackson, Stanley Fant, Mike Ford, Phil Rutherford, Tom Mitchell, Harry Dwyer and Betty Rivenbark were also present The purpose of tonight's meeting was to take one item at the golf course to see what needed to be done and hopefully proceed to get done. The Board had asked Tom Mitchell to be present to discuss the work needed to be done on cart paths. Tom reported that he had laid out the cart paths for the greens and tees and came up with 8,000 lineal feet. Phil said he had talked with several people on paving and we would need 200 feet at each tee and green and that for the tees & greens 1 400 tons of asphalt. The asphalt will be 6.00 a ton compacted. With the parking areas the cost comes up to $11,600.00. This does not include the service road and only minimum cart paths and parking(does not include from cart building to pro shop) . City to do preparation work. All agreed this is fair to get started as soon as possible. Don Smith moved that we tell the Mayor that the Board is behind him and to continue with the Golf Course to its completion where it is ready to open and put in operation, and whatever additional funding needed will be commit to by the Board. Stanley Fant seconded and motion carried unanimously. Don also asked that a weekly financial report be presented to keep the Board abreast of spending. Phil asked if they wished to discuss kitchen fixtures for pro shop that he had been to Mobile and gotten prices. Barney said he wished to wait until Saturday when they met at 8:30 at the Pro Shop, he had some other ideas on these. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
