HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-15-1987 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met July 15, 1987, 7:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chairman Barney Shull, members Don Smith Al Johnson, Rae Jackson and Phil Rutherford Facilities Director and Betty Rivenbark, Secretary The minutes of the June 17, 1987 meeting were duly approved as recorded on motion by Don Smith seconded by Rae Jackson. The bills were approved on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Rae Jackson. Barney introduced Tom Mitchell, . groundskeeper at the Golf Course, to all the members. Tom said he would like for all of them to come out and see him. Under old business, Barney reported that the letter had been sent to the group who signed the contract on Stimpson but we have not had any response from them yet. He reported that he thought the softball season was over. Further reports were made on the success of the swim meet. All thouaht it went well and that there was good coverage on it. Barney at this time presented the results of the meetings with the Council and the fee structure he presented and what ultimately was agreed upon as follows for the golf course: Green Fee $9.00 Cart Rental (18 holes) $12.00/2 Annual Fees-Membership(400 Limit) 325/Yr Spouse 75.00 Dependent( playing w/adult) 50.00,/Yr (All) ( Age Limit to 22 ) Corporate(One or Two) 450.00/Yr Junior: Individual (Up to age 22 if student) 185.00/Yr Special Signup Fee(I time) to 9/1/87 None 9/2/87 to opening $100.00 After opening day $300.00 A private cart fee was discussed and the Board on motion by Don Smith voted we send back to Council that we do not want private carts allowed because of the liability factor/confusion in handling; that carts are an important source of income to program and that the administration in- volved would be too complicated. That the 10-12 people involved would present more headaches than not allowing them at all. It was pointed out that carts are nationally recognized major source of income. Also pointed out that after subdivision developed it would be hard to prevent private carts if once door is open now. Motion seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. Barney further reported that Council approved the club house drawing and buildings for cart barn and maintenance barn. Quail Creek is the name approved for golf course. Barney mentioned that we will accept donations on trees, markers furniture, flowers, etc. The Board approved a $300.00 bonus for Phil Rutherford for extra work involved over summer months. Tom reported 90o finished on irrigation system, few problems but will work out There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
