Phil reported that everything is up but the backstop. Al asked if it would be available to use before June 23rd. They did not think so. He then asked about using one field at Stimpson for the 13-14 yr old league. He said he had talked to Vaughn and that he said he could use on Friday night. Al asked Phil if there was any way to fix the problem with Field 3. Phil said he had tried several things and still had a problem there. Further discussion led to suggestion that Phil look into it and see what we can do to fix it, report back next meeting. Al was told he could use field 3 that they would fix mound and 75' bases. They are having registration at the swimming pool beginning May 18th We still haven't heard anything as to program. At this time Barney recognized Evelyn Phillips, City Clerk, who he had asked to come to talk with the Board about Golf Course. Barney outlined for Evelyn the 4 types of classifications they were going to have( Golden/Family/ Immediate/Junior) . He told her where they were going to get their money: greens fees, cart fees, pull cart fees, also money from the driving range, pro shop sales and concessions. She i asked numerous questions about who would run clubhouse, be handling the money, the system planned to set up(books, receipts, cash register to handle sales)how deposits would be made to city hall, how frequent. A lengthy discussion was held on how all of this would be handled and what would be amount charged for these. Don Smith said he would by the next meeting have a realistic figure on what we would have to charge and how much it would cost to run the course per year. Everyone thanked her for coming as these were all questions that needed to be thought about and discussed. Al brought up having a Soccer Camp July i2L-j6 at Stimpson half day. He said he had talked with Vaughn about same. Stanley said he would move to have it as long as it did not interfere w/softball. Rae Jackson seconded and motion carried unanimously. The Board unanimously approved hiring Harry Dwyer as Golf Course Manager at $22,000 + 30 of gross of pro shop effective 6/1/87, and hiring Tom Mitchell at a salary of $20,500 effective 5/25/87 as groundskeeper.
