on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Al Johnson and unanimously carried.
The bills were approved on motion by Al Johnson, 2nd by Roy Lloyd.
Barney recognized Bob Young who was present to talk about Fit Trail.
He showed the board the brochures he had and said the hospital was
willing to spend the money to get such a trail. The board informed him
that we had a trail but did not have the signs as yet. Maybe we could
incorporate the two into what he was proposing. He said he would like
to see what we have now and maybe install the paths and walkways
necessary to have one for the senior citizens too. Further discussion
led to Don Smith offering to get with him and go over what's there
now and what else he thought would be needed. He said he just wanted
the board to know that the hospital was willing and ready to work with
the board on getting it finished and publicized so all the community would
know about it.
Vivian Smith was present to comment about the letter the board had
directed the secretary to write as to their being remiss on their yearly
contract at Stimpson Field. Mrs. Smith discussed all the points brought
out and said she just wanted to get an understanding as she did not
wish to leave with a bad record. She said it was her understanding that
they did not have to clean the restrooms during soccer as they had sub-
leased the building to the soccer association. Whether or not this was true
it was not reflected in the minutes. She was thanked for her many years
of service at Stimpson.
Bids were opened on the concession stand at Stimpson Field this morning
at 10:00 A.M. and were as follows:
Brett Wallace/Paula Newman $802.00 a year
Vaughn Kelley/Terry Harrison $502.00 a year
Vivian Smith/Jerry Anderson $560.00 a year
Discussion led to the board saying they wished to interview the high
bidder to see what their qualifications were and what they wished to
accomplish at this facility. Roy Lloyd put this in the form of a motion
Don Smith seconded and motion carried with Al Johnson abstaining.
Phil reported on the new baseball field's progress, that it is half cleared.
It was noted that the parents assoc. was going to install the fence when
ready to do so.
The golf course was discussed. Al told the board of the structure at the '
airport that we hoped to incorporate for use. Buddy Richmond was present
to show a sketch he had made as to how we could utililize this building
some 3000 sq ft. He further explained inside use of building. He had gotten
2 prices on moving structure(6, 000 & 7,500) and the low bidder said he
could move it in one piece. He asked about budget for building($100,000.00
top) . He said he had determined it was appropriate for what we need. He
was advised that the next step would be to have a presentation drawing
for the board. Discussion led to board saying they would like to hold a
meeting next Wednesday night, the 25th at 7:30 to discuss memberships
and fees to charge. Phil reported on the sprinkler system he had been
inquiring about and said it would cost anywhere from 70,000(manua0 to
135,000(hydraulic). That he would be going out on bids either Friday or
Monday.
The Board discussed the possibility of getting new bleachers and asked
Phil to get prices for a 5 row 21 ft. and a 10 row 27 ft long, so we will
be ready to purchase when we can.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
