at 7:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section St
Fairhope, Al.
Present: Barney Shull, Chairman; members Don Smith, Roy Lloyd
Rae Jackson, AI Johnson. Also present were Eddie Nelson Programs
Director and Phil Rutherford Facilities Director
The minutes were considered and approved as written.
Barney recognized Ronnie Langham from Young Street and asked him
how they were progressing on their programs. They reported that
they had made $459.87 and had brought some pictures for all to look
at. They had softball games, dunking booths and other activities
for children and adults. They did say they were putting the money
back in the facility. 'The Board agreed that everything looked good
out there. Ronnie asked again about the possibility of getting a hot
water heater and getting some bulbs for existing fixtures. Further
discussion led to Don Smith moving to put in a small hot water heater
using Phil's judgement in cost. Roy Lloyd seconded and motion carried
unanimously. All thanked the Board and said they would report again
next month.
Under old business Barney reported the monies spent on the golf course
project ($17,000) and that all had been returned that we should be getting
some back($2,000).
The bills were presented and on motion by Don Smith, seconded by
Roy Lloyd, approved for payment unanimously including the money
for the City General fund that we did not have enough for last month.
Phil reported on having taken the dirt out to Young Street and helping
them spread it, on the pool, they are going to close on the 29th had
a very good season. That he would like to drain it and go ahead and
paint it now, not wait to next year. All agreed it would be a good idea
go out on bids when ready. Don Smith moved to go out on bids, Roy Lloydl
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Al asked what happened at tennis court at St. James. Barney remarked
I� that aromatics left causing it to crack. Phil reported the net, cable
stolen there.
They discussed the band using the Babe Ruth field. Al said he would be
needing it for soccer. All thought that he had said he would be moving
back to high school when school starts for practice..
I� Eddie didn't have anything to report about programs.

Barney reported on the talks they had been having about the possibility
of new golf course, off highway 27, Windmill Road. Everthing looked
real good, the layout of the land was good. They had talked to two
people(Mike Hathcock and Horace Smith) and asked that they present
written proposals to Board on costs. Barney said that one estimate
was $300,000.00 for whole course. That we would buy the land and
build the course. He had a proposed layout with him. All were
anxious to see what could be done.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
