HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-18-1985 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope, Alabama met September 18, 1985 at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street, at 7:30 p.m. Present: Barney Shull, Chairman members Don Smith, Roy Lloyd, Al Johnson and Rae Jackson, Facilities Director Phil Rutherford and Activities Director Eddie Nelson. The minutes of the August 21, 1985 meeting were approved on motion by Roy Lloyd, seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. Rodney Crocker was recognized representing the Dixie Youth 13-14 year old league. He was asking for use of a field to practice on prior to and during season. After discussion, Roy Lloyd moved to allow this group the use of 1 field, Eddie to work out the schedule. Don Smith seconded and motion carried unanimously. The Board recognized Ronnie Langham who was present to present to the Board ideas about the Young Street facility. The Board was very interested in what he is proposing. They told him that they would have to talk with Calvin and see what is going on. That he needed to get his people lined up, let us see what is going on and get back with him. The Bills were approved on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Roy Lloyd and unanimously carried. Barney reported he had talked with the developers today and that October 7, 1985 was now the closing date on acquiring the deed to the property for the golf course. That as far as he is concerned things are going okey even though we are now 60 days behind schedule. Barney presented to the Board basketball facility. He had 3 2, slab w/fence & roof; and 3 He said he has asked for bids. drawings on the proposed option packages 1, slab; included all w/walkway. Roy and Phil reported need for a new tractor. They looked at several today and think they are going to run between $14,000-$15,000. The Board asked if we might could get this money out of improvement account. Barney to talk w/Mayor. Roy Lloyd moved to go out on bids, Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimoulsy. The report on the summer art program will be held over until next month our budget meeting. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
