at the Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section Street, Fairhope
Alabama at 7:30 p.m.
Present: Chairman Barney Shull; members Don Smith
Roy Lloyd and Al Johnson. Facilities Director Phil
Rutherford and Programs Director Eddie Nelson
The minutes were approved as written on motion by
Roy Lloyd, Seconded by Don Smith and unanimously
carried.
The bills were approved as presented on motion by Roy Lloyd
seconded by Don Smith and unanimously carried.
Barney recognized Ms. Mary Herman who is President of
the Babe Ruth League.She told the Board she had taken
over the running of the league this year. She reported
she had given Eddie their schedule and so far everything
was going O.K. Eddie mentioned he would give her a copy
of the do's and don'ts for groups using the park area.
She thanked the Board for asking her to come up and
for the opportunity of meeting everybody. She said she
would bring up a list of their officers.
Jackie Cramton was present representing the swim team.
She went over a list of items she wished to see if she
could obtain and also asked if a water fountain was possible.
The Board voted to install one like at Stimpson. This was
on motion by Don seconded by Al Johnson and unanimously carried.
Eddie brought to the Board's attention the programs he wished
to operate this summer and suggested hiring Joe Dean at $1000.00
to operate the weight room at the FHS from Monday -Friday
4:00 p.m. thru 9:00 p.m. during June and July. He further
recommended hiring David Stapleton to run the camp program
at the Volanta Ballpark at a cost of $1000 starting June loth
to run until the last Friday in July from 9-1 daily. The board
on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Roy Lloyd approved hiring
both individuals for this purpose. Motion carried unanimously.
Calvin Hunt asked the Board if we could cut the grass at Young
Street before Saturday, fix the basketball goals and fix the
outside security lights so he could plan something for the
upcoming weekend. Phil told him that he would do his best
to get this done. That there were other things on the list
to do before he came up here requesting these things.
The Board looked over the proposed golf course layout and
discussed same.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
