1985 at 7:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161
N. Section Street
Present: Chairman Barney Shull; members Don Smith, Roy
Lloyd and Al Johnson. Facilities Director
Phil Rutherford and Activities Director Eddie
Nelson
The minutes of the February meeting were considered and approved
as written on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Roy Lloyd and
unanimously carried.
Barney recognized at this time Margie Robinson and Edith
Calloway representing the girl's softball association.
Margie advised the Board that they had 23 teams this year
and they were needing help getting fields for practice.
Eddie advised that the major and minor fields were open
Wednesday and Friday nights and all day Saturday. Margie
advised that they tended to shy away from Wednesday as it
is normally a church night and also weekends because of
family outings. The Board advised that that was the best
we could do, Eddie was trying to arrange schedules for
the boys too. Margie remarked that if we could get Church
Street to where it had fur down bases that it would certainly
help on practice. Phil said that would be no problem.
Margie also asked for the picnic tables and barrels to be placed
there for opening day May 4, 1985. Eddie advised of possibility
that high school might have a play off game that day but it
was only remote possibility, to go ahead and plan opening day
for that time. She also asked for 1 table to remain there
permanently. Phil said he thought he could locate one to put
there.
Carol Stickney spoke on behalf of the arts and crafts group
and the summer program. She went over some of the things that
had taken place last year and the program going on now. She
was advised by the Board that $1500 had been allocated for
this program this year in the budget. She thanked the board
and said they would start something going.
The swim association was represented by Tony Caminetti, Cher
Bartel, Jackie Cramton and Linda Ennis. A general discussion
was held on who's responsibility different things were. We
would pay chemicals, they pay life guards. They asked what
programs we would want and we replied open swim and swimming
lessons. They were further advised of upkeep they had to do
in and around pool.
Calvin Hunt came to speak about the Young Street recreation
facility. He told the board that he would like to take it
over. They told him of the problems we have encountered out
there but he was welcome to try. They asked him why he thought
he might succeed where others failed, and he answered that he
thought he might get cooperation with the neighborhood and respe
The Board told him to keep in touch and let us know how things
were going.
The bills were approved on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Roy
Lloyd and unanimously carried.
The Board talked about the possibility of using Cummings Hall
for some type of program, all to think about it. They also
discussed ticket booth again and came to conclusion school could
build these and make them portable.
Phil asked about changes at Stimpson requested by Charlie and
Vivian Smith. Board said no way could be done. They also advised
that no one but coach was to use tractor .
Barney went over proposed fees for proposed golf course.

He proposed a patron's initial fee of $1,000 that included a
5 year green fee exemption. All thought this good. Could
be financed and—_,,w,�Qyld have 12-18 months to pay off before
course open, if,,longer,exemption would begin at time paid off.
He also suggested memorials and if so person would get one
patron status, if work was performed,(in-kind) get one patron
status for 100 work hours. Open play costs were $5.00 for
18 holes, and 4.00 9 holes weekends; weekdays $4.00 18 holes,
3.00 9 holes. After 5 year exemption have season ticket rates:
fa m.ly weekdays unlimited play $216.00; 7 days unlimited play
$240. Singles - $108.00 weekdays and $156-7 days. Senior citizen
$125 weekday and $175-7 day full week. A committee was suggested'
of Jim Wright, Jim Merrihew and Rae Jackson to get things going.
All agreed this was good and Don Smith put in the form of a
motion spending up to $2,000 on getting the materials necessary
for beginning to solicit memberships. Al Johnson to do this.
Roy Lloyd seconded and motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned.
