Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama Present: Chairman Barney Shull; members Rae Jackson, Don Smith, Al Johnson. Member Roy Lloyd is ill. The purpose of the called meeting being to accept any proposals that might be tendered to the Recreation Board for the con- struction of a golf course. Mr. Shull opened the meeting and welcomed those present, some 100 in number. He asked if there were any proposals forth- coming. No one responded. He mentioned that we had received one proposal from a group wishing to donate the land to the city. A question was raised if there was any government funding available to help defray the cost. Mr. Shull said that there were no funds available of this nature now. He mentioned that we did have one solid proposal and that there had been rumour that we had others forthcoming. No one else came forward. At this time Curtis Gordon spoke to the group saying he was one of several of a group who had made the proposal to donate the land necessary for a golf course(anywhere from 115-150 acres) whatever it takes. This would include a club house and maintenanc facilities. He told them the location which is between Hwy 98 and 104. He said that they were willing to work with the City any way possible. Mr. Shull said that they would try to get something together to present to the Council by February 11, the next regularly scheduled meeting. There followed questions from the audience ranging from memberships being sold, green fees, cart fees, and would the development of this golf course and surrounding area tax city facilities. All were answered satisfactorily. There being no further discussion, the meeting was duly adjourned
