HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-15-1984 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met August 15, 1984 at the Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street at 7:30 p.m. Present: Rae Jackson, Don Smith, Roy Lloyd and Al Johnson. Facilities Director Phil Rutherford Mr. Max Killoch was present asking the Board to consider fixing the bicycle path that was pretty much damaged after Hurrican Frederic. He said he had appeared before the Council also asking for help from tnem. He had pictures showing the worse places. He further asked if we could put the bicycle path signs back up. The Board said they would work in conjunc- tion with the City and see what could be done. The board approved unanimously the minutes on motion by Rae Jackson, seconded by Roy Lloyd and unanimously carried. The bills were approved for payment on motion by Roy Lloyd seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried. Rae reported on the summer program that was held at the elementa school. She told of the response of the children and how good it was. That they had just completed the science program and were going to have a second computer program. That she may run over her $500.00 allotment by about $90.00. Roy Lloyd moved to approve this overrun up to $100.00, Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimously. Rae also moved that a letter be sent to each person donating their time for this program on behalf of the Recreation Board. This was unanimously approved. Don asked about -the progress of the bathroom facility and whEther or not it would be ready for opening game. Phil said it would. Roy reported on the planting at the South end of the field and what all Tim was going to put in. Roy also reported on the progress of the Tennis Courts and asked if the Board would approve overtime for work this weekend Don Smith so moved, Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimously. The football season was talked about and getting the fields ready, painting $1.00 parking signs, sending maps to the schools to pinpoint parking for them, and first game being on Thursday, August 30. Roy brought up getting a vacuumn attachment to fit on the Kubota mower and how much time it would save in cutting the fields as well as around town. Roy put in the form of a motion spending the $1300.00 required for this attachment, Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimously.(Phil to check to see if City will help with this) Al reported on the soccer season planned and that they were not going to be working with the "Y" this year, just have local sponsors. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
