1984 at 7:30 p.m. at the City Hall Complex, 161 N. Section
Street
Present: Don Smith, Roy Lloyd, Rae Jackson
Phil Rutherford, Facilities Director
and Eddie Nelson,Programs Director
The minutes of the June 20, 1984 meeting were approved as
written.
The bills were approved as presented on motion by Roy Lloyd
seconded by Rae Jackson and unanimously carried.
Eddie mentioned that he had a call from Lefty Anderson
and what would the board feel about us having the Theodore
Vigor game played over here August 31st. If so, how much
would they want to charge. Don told Eddie we would get
a figure and get back with him.
Barbara Root had asked Eddie about the amount of the chemical
bill and would the board consider anything since the swim
team had used the pool so much. The Board told Eddie to get
with her and approach the swim team.
Phil brought up that we were still having trouble with the
Babe Ruth league, that next year we needed to run the program
different. That the Babe Ruth had provided no schedules, that
they were all messed up about games which put a bad light on
us because we were rushing around to line the fields. That
we needed to formulate written policy and the Board enforce
this policy. It was decided that the thing to do was ask
the league presidents to come to our meeting before the
season starts and outline with them our policy before any
games take place. Phil also reported the problem with the
broken tile at the pool and that he had told them not to
fool with it and he did anyway. Further that he planned
to bill them after it was fixed.
Margie Robinson and Edith Callaway were present and presented
a letter requesting an additional girl's softball field.
The Board talked with them on this and told them that they
would like to try and see if we couldn't work something out
where both girls/boys used fields, as we could not justify
building new field and have fields not used at the present
facility. They also asked for permission to have a fall program
games to be Tuesday and Thursday nights and not interfere with
football games —The board related they saw nothing wrong with
this scheduling. They also told them that they hoped to have
something worked out before they scheduled their teams in Feb.
of next year on the field problem.
Under old business they discussed the summer program and how
it is working out, Rae reported on her program. Phil reported
the bathrooms were under way.
Rae brought up the agreement for the Stimpson concessions and
wondered if there was a new agreement, that she thought we
ought to look into the situation there. Also review the
recreation employees every 6 months, like a progress report.
The Board talked about fixing the fields for next year, the
planting planned at the football field and Greeno Road and the
things Tim had expressed doing there.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
