February 15, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. Members present Don Smith,
Barney Shull, Roy Lloyd and Al Johnson
The minutes of the January meeting were approved as written
on motion by Roy Lloyd, seconded by Don Smith and unanimously
carried.
The bills were considered and approved for payment on motion
by Don Smith, seconded by Roy Lloyd and unanimously carried.
Barney brought up the proposed basketball play.area that we
had previously talked about. He said he had talked with the
Mayor and Council about this and that they suggested now
might be a good time to consider going ahead with the recreation
center at the Volanta playgrcuZd to hold several rooms multi-
purpose. They discussed it further at length and decided to
have another meeting in 2 weeks on Thursday, March 1, 1984.
Al brought up that he and Tim had met on landscaping Stimpson
and that Tim was ready to do something. The Board said to give
him the go-ahead and secretary to check on the trees. Tim to
present a plan on what he wishes to plant in these areas.
(Price not to exceed $500 at either park)
Roy asked the Board to approve the purchase of the plastic
pipe for installing at Stimpson for watering the fields, Don
Smith moved seconded by Al Johnson to purchase this pipe, motion
carried unanimously. Phil to be notified when he gets back in
town. At this time Al asked about the paving we were going to
do at Stimpson and also means to check and see if this is still
going to be done.
Don asked
When we were going to work on football field and correcting
problems, it was decided after work on Stimpson done. Don also
brought up the restrooms and that we wanted to get them ready
before football season. He said he would like to propose dual
purpose at North end of field so they could be used by baseball
crowd also. With at least 4 units for the ladies.
Roy brought up the problems we have with the Sears tractor and
after discussion he was asked to look into what available and
get with the Board.
Replacing the lights on the little league field was approved
on motion by Don Smith, seconded by Al Johnson, Aaron to order
and install.
Don brought up for discussion the possibility of hiring someone
for the summer just to play games with the kids depending on
how many show up as to activities planned. The Board thought
it was a good idea and to pursue it.
It was mentioned that Eddie is still �lanning to run Stimpson
facility and that there were repairs`eed to be made, a list
to be made and presented to Phil.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
