January 18, 1984 at the Police Station at 7:30 p.m.
Present: Chairman Barney Shull; members Rae
Jackson, Roy Lloyd, Al Johnson
The minutes of the 11/16/83 meeting were duly approved
as written on motion by Roy Lloyd, seconded by Rae Jackson
Barney welcomed Mr and Mrs. Stanfield who were visiting
They said they were new in the community and were interested
in what programs the Recreation Board was involved in and
just came tonight to familiarize themselves with things.
The bills were considered and approved for payment on motion
by Roy Lloyd, seconded by Rae Jackson with the exception of
Single Tax Corp to be paid the end of March.
Rae asked about the fitness trail progress. It was mentioned
holding up on announcement to have formal ceremony sometime
after Arts & Crafts.
Barney showed the Board the drawings he had so far on the
basketball courts and remarked that he wasn't finished yet
but would estimate the project to be around $40,000.00. Maybe
we would be able to do something next year. Along this line
Roy brought up putting the metal doors at the swimming pool so
the restrooms would be accessible for all the facilities. The
Board approved an expenditure of up to $1500.00 on motion by
Roy Lloyd, seconded by Al Johnson to cover this expense.
Phil to get these and see about getting pictures blown up
for fitness trail.
Roy told the Board he had talked with Keith Powell the new
baseball coach about the fields and he wished to use the tracto:
to cut the field one time before they start practice. The Boar(
said this was all right as long as he was checked out by Phil
for use of this equipment.
Al mentioned that the soccer team was playing mostly in Mobile
now, not much over here, that they might have some tournaments
here.
It was decided to leave the lights on on the practice field
at the elementary school for further use.
Barney mentioned that we had a request from the girl scouts
to use the field out by the swimming pool on April 28, 1984.
There was no problem with this.
There being no further business meeting was duly adjourned.
