Margie Robinson was present to speak for the Girl's Softball League.
They asked the Board for permission to use the girl's field during
September and October on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The Board
said there was no problem other than maybe having a high school
game on Thursday night and then they could not play. They said
there was no problem with that. The Board pointed out that they
would have to maintain their own field as the coaches would not
be working in Sept -Oct. At this time all discussed the possibility
of using the minor league fields along with the boys leagues next
year, just scheduling around each other, as the girl's schedule
was so full and their games were so long. They were agreeable
to this with the understanding that some of the boys might want
to use their field also. Margie thanked the Board for their con-
sideration and cooperation and left.
At this time the bills were considered, Roy Lloyd moved to pay
the bills as presented, Al Johnson seconded and motion passed
unanimously.
Barney informed all that he had been in contact with Mr. Fisk.
He said as a result the illegal balls that had been found would
no longer be a problem as they were going to be closely monitored.
He had talked to the operators at Stimpson and they were going to
be watching the teams closely. He said the 3 options we had were:
string chicken wire and poles near the trailer(3); buy a net and
move it up and down on poles; get high growth bamboo. That he
would have a cost at the next meeting.
At this time they talked about the way the tournaments were being
handled and it to be noted that Eddie should go over the tournament
schedules with the secretary to keep up with the monies coming in.
Barney said he might have a report on the golf course at the next
meeting. That they haven't given up on it yet.
Roy reported he had been in touch with theielephone company about
the extra cost that appears on the Adult Recreation Center bill each
month, they are to get back in touch with him to see if it had been
added by an authorized person.
Phil reported the swap in personnel between the gas and recreation
department, we now have Mike Nikolakis working for us. We need to
get ready for football starting August 1. There has been no report
from Auburn yet on the football field soil sample sent. We are going
to have to build new benches for the field since we are using the
ones from the girl's field at the football field.
At this time Roy moved to pay Phil a $300.00 bonus for the extra work
involved in the summer program. Al Johnson seconded and motion carried
unanimously.
A letter is to be written to the "YMCA" about the way the pool has been
kept this summer.
