HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-15-1982 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Department of the City of Fairhope met
December 15, 1982 at the Police Station at 7:00 p.m.
Present Chairman Barney Shull; members Don Smith,
Roy Lloyd and Rae Jackson. Programs Chairman Eddie
Nelson and Facilities Director Phil Rutherford
The minutes of the November 17, 1982 meeting were approved
as written on motion by Rae Jackson.
The bills were discussed, and at this time Eddie brought
the overrun and extra bills on the Stimpson Field concession
stand rennovation to the Board's attention. He had a bill
from Fairhope Floor Covering for $160.00 and there was a
$340.00 overrun on Fred Hall's bill as well as the bill from
Jeffrey's Steel. After discussion it was moved to pay these
extra bills as well as the monthly bills by Roy Lloyd, seconded
by Rae Jackson.
The problem of turning on/off the lights at Stimpson Field
for the Soccer Assoc. was discussed. Eddie reported they
are not furnishing regular schedules which makes it difficult
to have someone there when they are needed and subsequently
Phil is being called to turn them on/off. Further discussion
led to Don Smith moving that a letter be written to Mrs. Henson
as head of the association informing her that the only time
the lights will be turned on is the times they have furnished
for games and practices to Eddie by Sunday for the following
week. Further, Eddie and Charlie Smith have the authority
to tell teams that the fields are too wet for practice or play.
Phil reported to the Board the request we have gotten from the
Grand Hotel for a bike trail from the Grand Hotel to the City
Limits and that all the costs were being considered. He asked
if the Recreation Board would be willing to let Bryan and Ralph
help in this project as a contribution. They said it would be
a good idea as long as this did not interfere with their work
during the Spring when they had so much to do. And further
some of the fitness trails might be incorporated with this
project.
Barney asked how the tennis program was getting along. Eddie
mentioned that he knew they had started a Monday night play
with the teenagers and that it was going over real well.
He said he would ask Susan to come up and let us know if she
had any problems.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
