HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-17-1982 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met November 17, 1982 at the Police Station at 7:00 p.m. Present were Chairman Barney Shull, members Rae Jackson and Al Johnson The minutes of the 10/20 and 11/1 meetings were duly approved on motion by Al Johnson, seconded by Rae Jackson. The bills were duly approved on motion by Al Johnson, seconded by Rae Jackson. Barney reviewed with the Board the Adult Tourist Recreation budget. The letter that was sent to the "Y" concerning the condition of Stimpson Field was read and discussed, with the same letter to be sent to Billy McLean regarding high school use of field and tournament fees. The vandalism at St. James Tennis Courts was discussed and how to keep from happening. After discussion Al moved to provide security pipes at gates to prevent bicycles from going through, Rae Jackson seconded and motion carried. Al to get with Phil and work out layout. Barney brought to the Board's attention the Howard Threlkeld appreciation day planned for January 9th. That he had gotten a call about it and wished it conveyed to the City Council that the Recreation Board is asking for the use of the City Complex on this date. Barney also mentioned that he had a call from Jim Merrihew about the possibility of getting a municipal golf course. He related the events that had happened some years back when the city tried to get one. He advised that he told Mr. Merrihew to contact Jack Edwards and find out if there were going to be monies available for this project and him to get back with Barney after he had all the particulars before we pursued any further. Al brought up the scorekeepers box that had been requested some months back at the Babe Ruth field. He mentioned that we didn't want the time to slip up on us. Barney said he remembered telling Mr. Trevathan to bring a drawing back for us to look at and we would work it out. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
