1982 at the City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue
at 7:00 p.m.
Those members present: Barney Shull, Chairman; Roy
Lloyd, Rae Jackson, Al Johnson, Programs Director
Eddie Nelson and Facilities Director Phil Rutherford
The purpose of this special meeting being to discuss the
vacant Tennis Director position that has come available
due to Mr. Threlkeld's resignation.
Miss Susan Smith was present to talk with the Board about
taking the position.
Barney told Susan what Howard had done in the way of organizing
tennis programs making facilities available to residents of
city, keeping the courts in repair, having tennis meets, arti-
cle in the paper, promotions.
He further stated that with these things in mind would she
want to be considered for the position.
She responded that right now she is fully involved with the High
School tennis team and would this interfere with what needed.
The Board told her no. She felt she would like to try the job.
Eddie said he would work out a job description. Roy Lloyd moved
to appoint Susan Smith as Tenni.s director. Rae Jackson second-
ed and motion carried unanimously.
Eddie brought to the Board a proposal to redo the concession
area at Stimpson Field to include installing cabinets, moving
the doors, add some plumbing, sink and a 10 gallon hot water
heater, and a sliding glass window. The Board could only guess
at a cost. Roy Lloyd moved to authorize $1,000.00 for remodelinj
the Stimpson Field concession stand. Al Johnson seconded and
motion carried unanimously.

Al Johnson asked that a letter be written to the YMCA with a
copy to the soccer association, that they were not doing their
job cleaning up the fields after use. Also one to the softball
assoc. that they have to make a deposit on clean-up and any
tournament plans have to go to Eddie Nelson as Programs Director
for scheduling.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
