1982 at the Police Station at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Roy Lloyd, Don Smith, Rae Jackson, Al
Johnson, Programs Director Eddie Nelson
and Facilities Director Phil Rutherford
The Bills and minutes were approved on motion by Roy Lloyd
seconded by Al Johnson and unanimously carried. It was decided
to hold up on Govt. St. Lumber and Baldwin Electric until some
questions were answered about these two.
At this time Don read a letter from Howard Threlkeld saying
he wished to resign as Tennis Programs Director at the
Municipal Courts. He was recommending Susan Smith to take
his place. Much discussion led to Don Smith asking that
Howard give the Board another month before retiring. He agreed.
Under old business, it was discussed the Port-O-Lets being
not used, and therefore sent back, the broken lights at the
ballfield and Bible Baptist Church being billed for same.
Al mentioned that Tyrone needed to cut the grass at Stimpson
before Soccer started Saturday. He also mentioned that the
new goals would be coming could we move the old ones to
Organic permanently.
A discussion was held on using some students to do weeding,
cleaning, etc. that needs doing around the fields. Don Smith
put in the form of a motion authorizing Roy to hire part-time
�I school boys to do this work and he supervise them, Rae Jackson
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Al Johnson moved that all the fields at Volanta be closed
to baseball and the outfield be reserved for football and
soccer until after first of year. There was no second to
motion, and after further discussion, motion was withdrawn.
Discussion followed on use of fields by different groups and
it was opinion that groups could use the fields if they were
not interrupting soccer/football practice doing their seasons.
The Babe Ruth fence being upside down was discussed, Phil to
get a price on turning it over.
Rae and Eddie mentioned maybe getting some fitness trails
established maybe before the Arts & Crafts weekend.
Eddie mentioned that he had some 25 playing flag football, -but
that it had fallen through.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
