HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-18-1982 Regular MeetingThe Recreation Board of the City of Fairhope met Algust 18, 1982 at the Police Station at 7:00 p.m. Present: Roy Lloyd, Al Johnson, Don Smith, Rae Jackson Eddie Nelson Programs Director and Phil Rutherford Facilities Director Roy Lloyd moved to approve the minutes as written, Al Johnson seconded motion carried unanimously. Roy Lloyd moved to pay the bills, Al Johnson seconded notion carried unanimously. Under Old Business Al asked Phil what was the hold up on the resurfacing of the tennis courts. Phil replied that the last time he saw him he told him he had two jobs in town and wanted to do them at the same time, but he would get back with him. Al further mentioned that he had talked with "Skin Hall" about doing the work on the pressbox and he said he could do it. All felt he could go ahead with work. Roy moved to raise Bryan's salary to 4.50 per hour and for the Recreation to pick up his insurance. This to be effective immediately. Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimously. Roy also reported the washout at the football stadium and moved to let city get blacktop and fill hole. Al Johnson seconded and motion carried unanimously. Rev. Jackson came before the Board and reported that there were almost no activities going on at Young St. He said he had tried to generate some interest in his congregation but so far with no results. That there had been some break-ins at the center. Rae suggested to him getting a commmmnm.ity day or some fair type activity going on to generate interest. He said he would try that. Eddie reported that soccer registration had began,season to start Sept. 18thi He asked about the possibility of Flag Football using Stimpson Field if there was not a conflict with soccer. The Board did not see anything wrong with this, just work it out. Al asked what the Board felt about closing the South Gate at the football stadium as there were very few people who used this gate on the visitor's side. Discussion led to feeling that it should stay open, and further opening a gate behind the concession stand to have a way for people parking behind the stadium to enter without walking so far. It was decided that we should get four Port-O-Lets to place at the stadium for the season, to be placed where needed. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
