HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-08-1997 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, September 8, 1997 at
8:00 AM at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street.
Present: Chairman Sue Mason; members Khim Vira, Robert Colling, Andy
Huggins, Bill Payne, Jeanette Puckett and Betty Rivenbark, Secretary. Jim
Smitherman of Teledyne Continental Motors was also present
The minutes of the July meeting were duly approved as written and a financial
report was given.
Sue reported that we had a letter from the FAA that said that they were not
approving our pre -application for federal funds at this time that there were
projects with more critical needs. That it will be filed away and looked at again
at a later date.
Clark's lease was talked about again and it was reported he had paid up to July
but not since, in arrears again. That it seems they will not pay until we dun
them. Further discussion led to Bill Payne moving that we ask Tut to
automatically send him a letter each month if payment not received by the 1st
Mary will be asked to notify Tut if payment not received here. Buzz Colling
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
Jim Smitherman from Teledyne brought a copy from Teledyne's legal
department of a one year addendum to the lease that had been approved by the
city back in June(their anniversary date). It will be signed by the Mayor and
Airport Board Chairman and returned for execution by Teledyne with copy put in
Teledyne's file. Sue asked Mr. Smitherman how things were going out there.
He said well, that they are experiencing "slo\V growth but growth nonetheless.
He mentioned that Allegheny Metals had purchased them about six months ago
and that they are going through a phase of new management. That they have a
good backlog of business and have a full time salesman who travels, so they
feel real good about things. He mentioned that they need a new wind sock since
Hurricane Danny had taken the last one(Sue said she would take care of that)
and questioned if when planned new sewer put in could wash area be included
where lines run(he was asked to get in touch with Mike Rejczyk about that). He
also said there were potholes(he was asked to get in touch with Tim Kant). Other
than those things everything going well. A discussion was held on condition of
sign out there and Sue will ask if it can be reworked.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
